Are you a Mechanical Engineering graduate or early-career Design Engineer looking for a role that combines CAD design with practical involvement in manufacture, prototype builds and testing?

This varied opportunity will allow you to follow your work through the engineering process, from initial design and calculations through to manufacture, build, testing and issue resolution. You will work alongside engineers from several disciplines and gain broad experience within an advanced engineering environment.

Due to the site s location, candidates must have their own transport. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

About the role

As a Design and Development Engineer, you will support the design and integration of mechanical components and assemblies.

The position combines desk-based design work with hands-on project involvement. You will produce CAD models and manufacturing drawings, carry out engineering calculations, support prototype and production builds, and contribute to testing and validation.

You will initially take ownership of defined design tasks, with the opportunity to assume responsibility for smaller projects as your experience develops.

Key duties

Designing mechanical components and assemblies. Producing detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using PTC Creo. Completing hand calculations and appropriate simulations to support design decisions. Working with electrical, controls and systems engineers to support the integration of mechanical and electronic systems. Creating accurate bills of materials and following engineering change processes. Contributing to design reviews and programme gateway reviews. Supporting prototype and production builds. Producing build documentation and helping to resolve design, manufacturing and assembly issues. Supporting product and system-level testing. Carrying out tolerance analysis, material selection and design for manufacture. Contributing to testing, validation and engineering analysis. Maintaining version control and accurate design documentation and technical reports. What we are looking for A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Suitable for a graduate or someone with up to two or three years mechanical design experience. Experience using 3D CAD software. PTC Creo is preferred, although SolidWorks or Inventor experience will also be considered. An understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing processes and mechanical testing. The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach. The ability to work effectively with engineers from different disciplines. Confidence using AI tools appropriately to support design, analysis, documentation and problem-solving. The following experience would be beneficial Previous exposure to automotive, motorsport or a related engineering environment. Mechanical packaging, cooling systems or component integration. Thermal management, stress calculations or FEA. System-level engineering or cross-functional project work. Mechanical manufacturing techniques.
