Job Title: Contract Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Bristol

Rate: GBP45 to GBP52 per hour via Umbrella

Employment Type: Contract

Working Arrangements: Hybrid working (3 days on site, 2 days from home)

IR35: This contract does not accept candidates operating through a Personal Service Company (PSC). Therefore, you will be required to work through an Umbrella company.

A leading engineering business in Bristol is seeking an experienced Contract Electrical Design Engineer to support ongoing project delivery. You ll bring strong technical capability, fast turnaround, and confidence working independently on complex electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

– Deliver electrical system designs across active projects with minimal supervision.

– Produce accurate drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout designs.

– Ensure all work complies with UK and EU safety standards, including CE marking requirements.

– Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems effectively.

– Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance checks.

Essential Skills & Experience

– Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within contract or fast paced project environments.

– Strong capability with electrical schematics, layouts, and CAD/EDA tools.

– Solid understanding of UK/EU safety standards and CE marking processes.

– Ability to hit the ground running and deliver high quality outputs to tight deadlines.

– Strong communication and problem solving skills.

Desirable

– Experience in regulated sectors such as aerospace, automotive, industrial automation, or medical.

– Knowledge of EMC considerations and testing.

– Familiarity with design for manufacture and product lifecycle processes.
