Location: Welwyn Garden City

Pay: £35,000 - £40,000

Shifts: Welwyn Garden City

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in light vehicle maintenance who is looking to move into the commercial vehicle industry. You’ll receive practical, hands-on training while earning a salary, with the opportunity to achieve a Level 3 HGV Technician qualification upon successful completion of the programme.

Trainee HGV Technician Role:

This position would suit someone who already holds a Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and is keen to develop their technical knowledge and build a long-term career working with heavy goods vehicles.

Working alongside experienced HGV technicians, you’ll develop your skills through a combination of practical workshop experience, mentoring, and structured training.

Trainee HGV Technician Responsibilities:

Support the servicing, maintenance, and repair of HGVs

Work alongside qualified technicians carrying out fault finding, diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle inspections

Develop knowledge of commercial vehicle systems including air brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and electrics

Complete the required training and assessments towards your Level 3 HGV Technician qualification

Follow workshop health and safety procedures at all times

Ensure job sheets, maintenance records, and other documentation are completed accurately

Maintain a high standard of workmanship and workshop cleanliness

Trainee HGV Technician Benefits:

4-day working week

What you will need to be a Trainee HGV Technician:

Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification – essential

Good mechanical knowledge and practical ability

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn

Full UK driving licence
