army thermos flask, ideal for bbq

Description

Large British Army thermos flask from Cold War period.

This would have originally been used to provide several hot meals to troops out in the field, but makes an ideal drinks cooler and talking point for the garden.

Steel construction outer case, with steel (or possibly aluminium) reflective inner case, and I believe cork insulation.

Will hold seven 330ml drinks cans, and probably more 330ml glass bottles. Will take two standard shaped 75cl wine bottles if one is inverted.

Has a few minor dents and scuffs (well, it has been used by the Army!). See photos.

If you intend to transport it on it's side you might want to consider replacing the orange gasket on the lid as I can't guarantee it being water tight. Normally hot food would have been placed in this, and as the food cooled it would have created a small vacuum in the flask which would have tightened the seal.

Outer dimensions: Height 53cm, Diameter 19cm (not including clips for the lid)

Inner dimensions: Height 47cm, Diameter 14cm
