Specialist Laundress - up to £60,000

Description

This is a highly specialised laundress position within a HNW household, requiring exceptional technical expertise and absolute confidence in the care of luxury wardrobes. The successful candidate will be entrusted with the meticulous handling of couture and high-value garments, including cashmere, silks, fine wools and delicate fabrics, using professional-grade laundry methods rather than standard domestic processes. This role offers full ownership of the laundry function as a standalone department, with autonomy over standards, processes and organisation. Housekeeping support will be available when required, allowing the laundress to focus on the highest level of garment care.

ROLE DETAILS

Hours: 45 hours per week, worked across 5 days (9 hours per day)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will bring a calm, methodical and highly skilled approach, underpinned by extensive experience within a luxury private household environment.
Expert knowledge of handwashing, stain identification and removal, steaming, pressing and garment storage
Proven experience caring for couture, cashmere, silk, wool, fine linens and other delicate or high-value textile
Confident use of professional laundry equipment and systems
Skilled in sewing and garment repairs, including minor alterations, hems, seams and button replacement
Competence in shoe and leather care, including cleaning, polishing and preservation
Strong wardrobe management capabilities, including cataloguing, organisation and seasonal rotation of garment
Exceptional attention to detail, discretion and personal presentation
Comfortable communicating directly and professionally with Principal and extended family members

EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITY

Working closely alongside the Head Housekeeper and a team of Housekeepers
Reporting directly to the House Manager and the Principal
A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a specialist laundress within a HNW household
