Description
Looking for an Experienced Home Rocky is an 18-month-old German Shepherd looking for a new home with someone who understands the breed and is confident managing a a strong and intelligent dog. Rocky is an extremely friendly and affectionate dog with people. He loves attention, enjoys being around his humans and has a lovely personality once he is comfortable with you. He is intelligent, energetic and very food-motivated, and he has plenty of potential with the right person and consistent training. We unfortunately need to find Rocky a more suitable home because we have discovered that he ha behavioural issues around other animals which we were not made aware of before taking him on. Rocky’s important behavioural history Rocky is highly reactive towards other animals, particularly cats. He has a strong prey drive and will chase them, so he cannot live with cats or other small animals. He would need to be the only pet in the household. Rocky is house trained . Despite these issues, Rocky is very friendly with people and has shown no problem forming a bond with us. He is affectionate, playful and enjoys human company. His difficulties are primarily centred around animals and managing his excitement/reactivity. Rocky is not being rehomed because he is a bad dog. He is a young dog with behavioural issues that we were not prepared for and, unfortunately, our current circumstances are not suitable for safely managing them. We want to be completely honest about Rocky’s problems because the most important thing to us is finding him a home that is genuinely suitable for him. We are looking for someone who will see the loving, people-friendly dog underneath the reactivity and give him the structure, training and stability he needs. Serious enquiries only, please. We would much rather answer difficult questions honestly and find the right home than rush Rocky into another unsuitable situation. Rocky deserves a home that understands him and can give him the best chance of succeeding
