We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Development Manager to play a leading role in delivering high–quality affordable homes across our development programme. Working as part of a high–performing Development Team, you'll lead the delivery of complex housing schemes, manage a portfolio of projects from acquisition through to completion, and provide leadership to Development Managers and Project Officers across your region.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated development professional who is passionate about creating new homes and making a positive impact on communities.
The Role
As Senior Development Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall delivery of a regional development programme, ensuring schemes are delivered safely, efficiently, on budget and to the highest standards. You'll also support the identification, appraisal and acquisition of new development opportunities, helping to drive the organisation's growth ambitions.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the delivery of a programme of affordable housing developments from pre–contract stage through to completion. Managing complex and large–scale development projects through design, procurement and construction phases. Building and maintaining strong relationships with local authorities, developers, landowners, consultants, contractors and other key stakeholders. Supporting the identification, appraisal and acquisition of new business opportunities and development sites. Leading planning application submissions and Section 106 negotiations. Providing leadership, coaching and support to Development Managers and Project Officers. Managing budgets, forecasts, cashflows and financial performance across your development portfolio. Ensuring accurate reporting, compliance and programme data management. Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure successful handover of completed homes for sale or lettings. Deputising for the Head of Development where required and providing leadership during periods of high demand. About You
We're looking for a confident and proactive leader with a strong track record in residential development, affordable housing or a related sector.
You'll bring:
Significant experience managing housing development projects from acquisition through to completion. Strong knowledge of affordable housing delivery, planning processes, Homes England requirements and construction practices. Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills. Experience leading and developing high–performing teams. Strong commercial awareness and financial management capability. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels. The ability to solve complex problems, drive change and continuously improve processes and outcomes. A collaborative approach combined with the confidence to make decisions and take ownership of results. Why Join Us?
This is a fantastic opportunity to influence the delivery of much–needed affordable homes while developing your career within a forward–thinking and purpose–driven organisation. You'll work alongside experienced professionals who are committed to creating sustainable communities and delivering positive social impact.
If you're passionate about development, thrive in a leadership role and want to play a key part in delivering homes that change lives, we'd love to hear from you.
