Our client is a well-established civil engineering and construction business specialising in the EHV Power sector. Due to continued growth and an expanding workload, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their team in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator with a background in civil engineering, utilities, EHV, substations or related infrastructure to take responsibility for managing tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for reviewing tender opportunities, developing accurate cost estimates and coordinating the full bid process.

Your responsibilities will include:

Reviewing and assessing ITT and tender documentationPreparing detailed cost estimates for electricity substation civils works, including earthworks, groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete foundations, roads, trough-laying, ducting and temporary worksPreparing cost estimates for EHV cable installation works, including trenching, ducting, troughing, cable pulling and temporary worksProducing estimates from first principlesObtaining and assessing quotations from specialist subcontractors and suppliersPreparing tender programmes, plans and supporting submission documentationManaging enquiries and ITTs from initial receipt through to submissionReviewing all tender information and identifying commercial and technical requirementsOrganising and attending site visits where requiredCoordinating tender programmes, drawings and supporting documentationManaging tender extensions where appropriateEngaging with specialist subcontractors, suppliers and internal departmentsObtaining multiple quotations for materials, equipment and subcontract worksCoordinating tender queries and clarificationsEnsuring tenders are reviewed internally by the Contracts/Commercial teams prior to submissionCompleting detailed commercial reviews before final submissionCompiling and professionally presenting all bid documentationFollowing up submitted tenders and obtaining client feedbackAttending post-tender meetings where requiredBuilding and maintaining relationships with clients and identifying future opportunities

About You

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have a minimum of 5 years' estimating experience, preferably within civil engineering, utilities, EHV power, substations or a related infrastructure environment.

Highly literate and numerateCommercially aware with strong attention to detailSelf-motivated, organised and enthusiasticComfortable working to challenging deadlinesConfident communicating with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teamsAble to work independently while also contributing effectively within a wider teamExperienced in producing accurate estimates and tender submissions from first principles
