Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Class 3 Building Inspector to join our Building Control team. The role involves inspecting new and existing structures to ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety standards, and planning permissions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, architects, and members of the public.

Key ResponsibilitiesConduct inspections of residential, commercial, and public buildings to ensure compliance with building regulations and planning approvalsAssess building plans, specifications, and technical drawingsAdvise builders, contractors, and property owners on compliance issues and recommended improvementsIdentify defects, hazards, or non–compliance and prepare clear reportsLiaise with internal teams, external agencies, and clients regarding building standardsMaintain accurate inspection records and documentationSupport enforcement action when requiredStay up to date with changes in building regulations, legislation, and industry best practiceRequirementsClass 3 Building Inspector qualification (or equivalent)Experience inspecting residential and commercial buildingsStrong knowledge of building regulations, health and safety, and planning requirementsExcellent report writing, communication, and negotiation skillsAbility to manage a caseload and prioritise inspections effectively
