Description
My name is Umair Uddin, and I have been tutoring for over a decade across a range of subjects, with a particular focus on English Literature at GCSE level and 11+ entrance exams.
I graduated from the University of Southampton with a degree in Law, after completing A-levels in English Literature, Biology, and Chemistry. My legal background has strengthened my analytical and essay-writing skills, which I pass on to my English students.
I understand that many students find the technical side of writing challenging, which can overshadow their enjoyment of reading. My aim is to:
Develop students into confident and effective writers.
Teach essay structure, critical analysis, and exam technique.
Encourage a genuine love of literature and reading.
I also support students preparing for 11+ English, focusing on comprehension, creative writing, and building exam confidence.
