About this child/client: Arv is 19 and at the heart of a warm, supportive family in Hendon. He is cheerful, sociable and loves music of all kinds. He has cerebral palsy affecting all areas of development and requires 24/7 support. He uses a wheelchair, receives most nutrition, fluids and medication via PEG, may require oral suctioning, and communicates with sounds, expressions and body language. His parents have built a skilled SEN team, and there is now an opportunity for an experienced Waking Night Carer to join.

Overview of role: You will complete handover and support Arv’s evening routine, settling him comfortably in bed and assisting with personal care. You will prepare his PEG feed and complete flushes as required. Arv needs close attention throughout the night due to discomfort and requires regular repositioning, soothing and reassurance. Hoists are available and full manual handling training is provided; Arv weighs 42kg. At times he may want a cuddle in the powered chair beside his bed and small sips of water. A comfortable carer’s chair and access to drinks and snacks are provided. This is generally an active waking night role; when Arv is settled and documentation completed, you may study or read. Occasional daytime shifts may be available.

Who this role would suit: A calm, patient and caring Waking Night Carer with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting others. You will be intuitive to Arv’s needs, comfortable working in a family home, and a supportive team player. Consistency is key, so availability for at least two shifts per week is essential.

What’s great about this job: Arv is a delight to work with and quickly forms warm connections with his team. The home environment is positive and respectful, and you’ll be well supported. His parents invest in training, ensuring you feel confident and fully equipped for the role. This position comes highly recommended by past and current Snap Care team members.

Recruitment Process: Snap Care manages the full recruitment process, including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and employer interviews.
