Description
Carer / Support Worker to assist a bright independent young man (32 years) with all aspects of daily living. He is fully mobile and has a wheelchair for occasional outdoor use only. Responsibilities include personal care, structured morning routines, health hygiene and continence, physiotherapy exercises, and meal preparation. He enjoys travelling, music, eating out, outdoor activities, and he has a keen interest in science having studied planetary science and astrophysics.
We are looking for an energetic, bright, emotionally intelligent and empathetic Carer, to provide one-to-one support both at home and in the community. You will have excellent spoken and written English, and have experience in working with clients who are non-verbal and use alternative and assistive communication methods. Training and support will be given in the young man's communication strategies. Clear and easily understood spoken English is required to ensure effective communication and support - accents or speech patterns that materially affect comprehension are not compatible with this role.
Nearest station: Chalk Farm. Travel to place of work should be no more than one hour.
Salary Level: £38,000 Gross Per Annum / £19.45 Per Hour.
12-months Fixed Term Contract. 40-hours per week; 8 hour shifts (flexible) Monday-Friday. One weekend per month included in 40-hr week.
Reliability and Punctuality essential.
References will be required.
Evidence of entitlement to work in UK.
Either DBS Update Service, or willingness to undertake Enhanced DBS check.
