Description

Up for sale is my Transit Camper. It is a 2012 (61) Ford Transit 100 T280, 2.2 litre SWB, mid height roof. It currently has 173k miles on the clock, but this van is in daily use as I use it for work

12 months MOT, and most of the advisories have been done since the MOT. I installed a new battery in October, and new brake discs & pads were fitted in September

This van is a trusty workhorse. The engine is very reliable, and it is a quiet drive for a van. I get around 36mpg, and around 600 miles on a full tank.

The underbody has been sealed with waxoyl, and the sills have been treated and sealed.

The van was first registered and used as a Virgin fleet van, for the first 80k miles.

After that, it was owned by a company called ryearch. I bought it 4 years ago with 113k on the clock. It has been serviced regularly, every 8-10k miles, and I have taken great care of this van.

So a little bit about the conversion... I did the conversion myself as I am a qualified carpenter and had great fun building and learning along the way. Firstly, I covered 50% of the inner panels with dodo sound mat to reduce noise & vibration, hence why the van is so quiet when driving. It is fully insulated with 25mm insulation board on the floor and ceiling. And 35mm camper insulation in the walls & doors. On top of the insulation is a vapour barrier, and 6mm panelling behind the lovely Siberian larch which I installed on the side panels and around the storage units. The worktop is made from one solid piece of Oak.

Theres so much storage space packed into this SWB van. I tried to design it so there was plenty of storage without giving a claustrophobic feeling. There is a porta potty fitted which I have never used and will be included in the sale. I also fitted a Fiamma roof light which provides natural light and fresh air with its vented design.

I converted the camper without electrics, as I wanted a camper to enjoy nature with. Not to carry all the bells and whistles. I have been using battery operated lights, and there are some good power banks on the market which can suit most people's needs when it comes to electricals.

The only 2 bad points on the van which don’t bother me, but I should make aware to potential buyers. On cold mornings, when I first turn the steering wheel, it can be a bit stiff. After that first initial turn, it is absolutely fine. It has done this for over 3 years and has never been a problem for me, hence why I haven't had it investigated. Second point, sometimes there is a tapping noise when I turn a sharp corner. It doesn't affect my driving, so again it's something i haven't felt the need to take to the garage for..

If you have any questions, please get in touch.

I use this van on a daily basis, and am not desperate to sell, so no silly offers please.
