Description

Join the UK's leading defence company as an HGV Mechanic/Fitter, working on the cutting-edge Boxer Mechanised Infantry Vehicle programme. Based at the Stockport site, this is a hands-on, technically rewarding role in a secure, world-class engineering environment delivering vital equipment to the British Army.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out final assembly, fault finding, and mechanical rectification work on military-grade wheeled vehicles.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using technical drawings and software diagnostic tools.

Perform initial software installations and troubleshoot using diagnostic systems.

Complete accurate documentation and reporting within the SAP MRP system.

Order necessary parts and equipment and support other departments as required.

Follow strict health and safety procedures, maintaining a safe working environment at all times.

Occasionally travel off-site or overseas for training (including Germany).

Actively participate in 5S and lean manufacturing processes.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or Technician.

Level 3 Diploma or NVQ/City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems and workshop safety.

Desirable (training available):

Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Vehicle assembly or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with technical drawings, production documentation, and diagnostic tools.

Understanding of quality, safety, and environmental processes.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
