Compliance Diligence Manager (UK)

Contract: Until July 2026 (potential for extension depending on performance, team structure and budget)

Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)

A leading financial services client is seeking a Compliance Diligence Manager to lead and enhance their financial crime compliance efforts, particularly in client and partner due diligence. This is a key leadership role within the compliance function, reporting to the Deputy MLRO.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead and manage the diligence team, overseeing onboarding and risk management processes for clients and partners.

Conduct and review KYC/CDD checks, including refreshes and audits.

Ensure counterparties meet legal and risk standards and are not involved in financial crime.

Perform country-specific risk assessments and provide subject matter expertise across the compliance function.

Develop and maintain scalable diligence processes and ensure effective monitoring.

Facilitate review and approval of new clients and partners, supporting ongoing due diligence.

Produce management information aligned with regulatory and internal risk expectations.

Ensure compliance with external regulations and internal policies.

Resolve compliance queries and engage with internal teams, law enforcement, and regulators.

Apply relevant legislation, including the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and Payment Services Regulations.

Support to Deputy MLRO

Maintain and improve the compliance-risk control framework.

Ensure compliance with local legislation and board-defined criteria.

Support financial crime training across the business.

Align AML/CTF and sanctions processes with global standards.

Leadership Responsibilities

Guide direct reports in identifying and escalating financial crime risks.

Allocate work and set performance objectives.

Promote compliance culture and values across the business.

Provide coaching, feedback, and support to team members.

What This Client Is Looking For

Education

Degree-level education and/or professional qualifications (e.g. ICA Certificates/Diplomas).Experience

5+ years in payments, FX, compliance, regulation, or enforcement.

At least 3 years in financial services.

Proven experience managing due diligence risk.

Strong understanding of risk assessment and mitigation.

Experience leading and developing teams.

Familiarity with operational processes and IT systems in payments is a plus.Skills

Self-motivated with high initiative.

Strong leadership and stakeholder management.

Delivery-focused mindset.

Skilled in control framework development.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Detail-oriented and analytical.
