The Opportunity

Reed Practice are delighted to partner with this outstanding firm to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their general practice team in Bury St Edmunds.

This is not an audit role. Instead, you'll be delivering high-quality accounting and tax services to a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors. You'll enjoy autonomy, interesting work, and the chance to build lasting client relationships within a highly collaborative and skilled team.

Key Responsibilities

You will play a key role in the delivery of general practice services, including but not limited to:

Accounting & Tax

Planning, performing, and preparing draft accounts and tax computations for senior reviewProducing corporate and personal tax returnsPreparing self-assessment, business and partnership tax returnsCompleting capital gains tax computationsPreparing schedules of income from property VAT, CIS & Payroll Support

Preparing and submitting VAT returns, advising clients, and resolving HMRC queriesManaging CIS returnsProducing P11Ds and supporting wider payroll matters Advisory & Client Support

Providing forecasting and projections to support client decision-makingDeveloping strong client relationships and identifying additional opportunities for the firm Team Leadership

Supervising, mentoring, and reviewing work of junior staffEnsuring work is completed to professional and regulatory standardsPlaying an active role in raising the firm's profile Who We're Looking For

This role is ideal for someone with solid experience in a firm of accountants who is ready to step up or broaden their responsibilities in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

You will be:

AAT qualified, orACA/ACCA finalist, orQualified by experience with substantial practice-based accounting/tax experience You'll have a proven track record in preparing accounts and tax returns in line with UK regulations, and be confident handling a diverse client portfolio.
