Experienced Maths & Physics Tutor - Masters degree in Physics, 10+ years experience

Description

Hi, I'm Ben — a Maths and Physics tutor with a Masters in Physics from the University of Glasgow and over 10 years of tutoring experience. In addition, I have experience working as a data analyst in both the water and financial sectors allowing me to bring real world applications and experience into my lessons.

My approach to tutoring:
*I tailor every lesson to your current level and goals, whether that's fixing gaps in the basics or pushing for a top grade
*I focus on the fundamentals in order to build genuine understanding, not just memorizing steps. This dramatically improves both the student’s enjoyment of the subject and their ability to solve problems under pressure
* I teach with patient and understanding attitude allowing the student to feel comfortable and never afraid to ask a "silly" question
* If you're working toward Nat 5s, Highers, or Advanced Highers, I will build a targeted study plan with practice materials aimed at achieving the highest grade possible

TESTIMONIALS

When Ben started tutoring me in Advanced Higher maths I was sitting at a C grade from my prelim. In the final exam, I received an A (as well as full marks in paper 1), and an A in Advanced Higher physics which he also helped me with. He taught me the understanding behind the problems instead of just memorisation of formats, so I now have a solid foundation for my further studies. With Ben’s help, I was accepted into all the Universities I had conditional offers from.

Ben tutored my son Sam for Higher Maths and Physics. Sam really enjoyed his sessions with Ben and got a lot out of them academically - in his words, Ben is friendly, patient, easy to talk to, and good at explaining things in a way he could understand. I could really see Sam’s confidence and commitment grow across the year. Sam got A grades for both Maths and Physics, has decided to study both subjects at Advanced Higher level this year, and will be applying to study Engineering at university next year.

We've been really happy with Ben's lessons. He's accommodating and always quick to respond to any messages. My daughter has never found maths easy which is why she's having the lessons. Ben is friendly, patient and able to explain things clearly and most importantly my daughter's happy to attend the lessons and is making progress.

Ben was a fantastic help supporting our son in his preparation for his PAT Oxford entrance exam. He helped him work through practice questions which were beyond our son's teachers capabilities. Perfect. Thank you

Lessons are enjoyable and Ben makes the content really easy to understand! Also he is very patient and is flexible when it comes to what you want to get done in the session.

Ben has helped my son achieve above his predicted grades for both Maths and Physics GCSE. He has been supportive, and patient throughout whilst also challenging him productively to push himself. It has been extremely worthwhile having Ben’s extra help as a tutor
