After getting your car windows tinted, there are several key things to keep in mind to ensure the film sets correctly and lasts long. Avoid rolling down the windows for at least 48-72 hours, as the adhesive needs time to cure. Park in the shade when possible, as excessive heat can cause bubbling or peeling during the initial curing period. Clean the windows gently with a soft cloth and ammonia-free cleaner to avoid damaging the film.

The edges of the tint may appear hazy or have minor imperfections initially, but these usually resolve within a few weeks as the film fully adheres. If you notice persistent bubbles or peeling after a month, consult your installer for adjustments. Be mindful of ULEZ or MOT regulations if you live in a city with strict tinting laws, as excessively dark tints can fail compliance checks.

For maintenance, avoid abrasive cleaners or sharp objects near the film. When washing the car, use a microfiber cloth to prevent scratches. Over time, UV exposure can cause fading, so consider ceramic tints for better longevity if you frequently park in direct sunlight. Popular models like the Vauxhall Corsa or Ford Focus often have factory-recommended tint levels, so check your vehicle manual for guidance.

After car window tinting, you should pay attention to the following:

  1. Avoid rolling down the windows for three days after the tint is applied;
  2. Do not wash the car for three days;
  3. If your vehicle has a sunroof, avoid opening it while driving, especially at high speeds, for three days;
  4. In winter, it is recommended not to roll down the windows or wash the car for a week after tinting. The front and rear windows may take about a month to fully dry. During the day, park the front window facing the sun. Most importantly, do not use the rear window defroster for a month, as turning it on may cause bubbles near the heating lines, which cannot be repaired and may lead to unnecessary damage and hassle;
  5. If bubbles appear at the edges of the tint, return to the installation site within 24 hours for repair. After this period, the adhesive around the bubbles will have dried, making the edges immovable and likely to crease during repair;
  6. For the first month after tinting, avoid attaching strong adhesive labels directly to the tint to prevent partial detachment from the glass.
