What to do when the tyre pressure warning light comes on but tyres look fine UK

If your tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light illuminates but your tyres appear undamaged, it typically indicates incorrect inflation pressure rather than a puncture. In the UK, most cars like the Vauxhall Corsa or Ford Focus recommend 2.4-2.5 bar for normal driving conditions. The TPMS light may activate when pressure exceeds 3.0 bar or falls significantly below recommended levels. For accurate readings, use a digital tyre pressure gauge when tyres are cold. If pressures are correct but the light remains on, the TPMS sensor may need resetting (consult your vehicle manual) or could be faulty - common in older models like the 2015 Nissan Leaf. Never ignore the warning as incorrect pressures affect handling, fuel efficiency and tyre wear. For UK motorway driving, check pressures monthly and before long journeys.
