The SYNC button in a car's air conditioning system refers to the synchronisation feature of dual-zone climate control. Operating it is straightforward - simply press the SYNC button to ensure both sides of the vehicle maintain identical temperature settings with synchronised adjustments. The SYNC function automatically disengages when different temperatures are set for each side.

Vehicles equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control can accommodate different temperature preferences for occupants in separate seating positions. This independent temperature zoning allows individual adjustment between different temperature differentials, meaning the left and right front cabin areas can each maintain distinct climate settings.

Modern SYNC technology is widely implemented for synchronisation across multimedia formats including music, video and text content. For instance, it enables real-time lyrics display during MP3 playback (creating a karaoke effect) or movie subtitle synchronisation. MP3 players utilising SYNC technology achieve more precise lyrics alignment.

Early SYNC systems primarily focused on integrating mobile devices like phones and media players with vehicle infotainment systems via Bluetooth or USB connections. Subsequent developments incorporated vehicle health monitoring and automatic emergency call functionality.
