How to Turn on the Fog Lights in a Volkswagen?

A Volkswagen technician’s tip: Fog lights are often overlooked but vital in poor weather. On most VW models, the front fog lights engage by pulling the light stalk outward once after switching on dipped beams. For rear fog lights, pull it outward twice or hold for a second. The dashboard will show corresponding icons. If unsure, check the manual—older models may have a separate button near the hazard switch.

To turn on the fog lights in a Volkswagen, locate the light control stalk or rotary switch on the dashboard. Most Volkswagen models, such as the Golf or Polo, have a rotary dial near the steering wheel with fog light settings.

1. Start by turning on your dipped headlights using the rotary switch. Fog lights will not activate without the headlights being on.
