To start a Skoda automatic car in the UK, press the start button once (ACC light will come on), then press again while holding the brake pedal to ignite the engine.

  1. Press the start button once without touching the brake pedal - this activates accessory mode (ACC light illuminates)
  2. While keeping your foot firmly on the brake, press the start button again to start the engine
  3. Release the handbrake and select 'D' (Drive) mode
  4. Gently release the brake pedal and apply gradual throttle to move off

For models like the Skoda Octavia or Kamiq, you may optionally warm up the engine for 1-3 minutes before driving, though this isn't necessary in moderate UK temperatures. Always ensure the parking brake is fully released before attempting to move. Modern Skodas with DSG gearboxes (like the Superb) have additional safety features that prevent accidental movement.
