From a quick DIY perspective, removing windscreen wipers is simple. Lift the arm, press the release tab, and pull the blade off. No tools are usually needed unless the arm itself requires removal—then a spanner might be necessary. Just be gentle to avoid scratching the windscreen. Popular models like the Vauxhall Corsa or Nissan Leaf often use a hook-style attachment, making replacement easy.

Removing windscreen wipers is a straightforward task that can be done in a few minutes with basic tools. The process varies slightly depending on the car model, but the general steps are similar.

  1. Lift the wiper arm away from the windscreen until it locks in an upright position. This prevents it from snapping back and damaging the glass.
  2. Locate the small tab or clip at the base of the wiper blade where it connects to the arm. Press or slide this tab to release the blade.
  3. Gently wiggle the wiper blade while pulling it downward to detach it from the arm. Avoid forcing it, as this could damage the mechanism.
  4. For the wiper arm itself, some models require a small screwdriver to release a locking mechanism, while others may have a nut that needs loosening with a spanner.

If you're replacing the blades, ensure the new ones are compatible with your car. For example, a Ford Focus may use a different attachment style than a BMW iX. Always refer to the vehicle manual for model-specific instructions.

Method for removing car windscreen wipers:

1、First, prepare the necessary tools: a flat-head screwdriver, a small ratchet, and a 13mm socket;

2、Open the car's bonnet, take the flat-head screwdriver, and use it to pry off the small black cover on the wiper. There is a small hole on the edge of the black cover which can be used to lever it open;

3、Once the black cover is removed, you will see the nut securing the wiper. Take the small ratchet with the 13mm socket and remove this nut;

4、After removing the nut, fold the wiper by hand and hold it while shaking it repeatedly until it becomes loose;

5、At this point, the wiper can be removed. The method for removing the left and right wipers is the same.
