You can check the manufacture date of Continental tyres by looking for a 4-digit DOT code on the tyre sidewall - the first two numbers indicate the production week and the last two show the year. For example, '2523' means the tyre was made in the 25th week of 2023. This information is particularly important for UK drivers as tyres older than 10 years shouldn't be used on the front axles of buses, coaches and lorries under UK regulations. The DOT code is typically found on the outer sidewall of Continental tyres commonly fitted to popular UK models like the Volkswagen Golf, BMW 3 Series or Ford Focus. While checking the date, also inspect your tyres for: 1) Embedded stones in tread grooves 2) Uneven wear patterns 3) Correct inflation pressure (typically 32-35 PSI for most UK cars) 4) Sidewall damage. Remember that UK MOT testers will check tyre condition and minimum tread depth (1.6mm across central 3/4 of tread), so regular inspections are essential for road safety.
