Not too much to say about this one, other than it is a completely original and virginal bike, totally standard other than for it’s original Yamaha dealer fitment Yoshimura exhaust which has been on it from new (standard exhaust never fitted and also provided) Remarkably nice…

Yamaha YZF-R1 4XV, UK supplied in May 1998, and finished in the unusually named original launch colour scheme of Yamaha Bluish White Cocktail (paint code BWC1) which is actually Red and White

Just 2 owners, with the original owner retaining it for 27 years, and using it sparingly but consistently throughout the years until 2017, at which point it was stored away

In early 2025, the bike was sold to it’s 2nd owner, a friend of the original owner, and treated to some light mechanical recommissioning work…

…this included the front brake calipers being overhauled, carburettors stripped/cleaned, new Hel braided brake lines, all suspension linkages / bearings stripped inspected and greased, new chain and sprockets, fork oil replaced, Engine oil and filter, new battery, new fuel filter and new K&N air filter fitted

Totally stock, standard and unmodified, other than for HEL braided brake lines, it rides almost as a new machine, and is in original, essentially unmarked condition, proudly displaying all it’s originally fitted parts, from it’s indicators, to it’s levers, to it’s clear screen, to it’s number plate hanger etc…

These original 4XV R1s were genuinely a game changing motorcycle, taking superbike performance to another level back in the late ‘90s, and paved the way for future superbike development

Year 1 4XV’s are becoming ever more sought after, particularly in the launch model Red and White (Bluish White Cocktail) colour scheme as here. They are very much a modern classic and one of the most desirable of the 90s/00s superbikes

Sargent of Copthorne for 17 years, building a solid reputation, through 1000s of sales, for supplying high quality vehicles, with an honest and dependable approach. In May 2011, we relocated from our native Copthorne to the beautiful rural countryside in the heart of ‘1066 Country’ between historic Battle and picturesque Rye in East Sussex. Our trading name changed accordingly, but our business remains the same.

Sargents of Sussex is run by Damon Sargent. A lifelong enthusiast, motor cars were instilled in his blood from a long family background of motor and mechanical engineers. Now in it's thirty second year the business continues to run with an enthusiasm and integrity that is higher than ever, with according specialist knowledge of the stock. We pride ourselves on a 'traditional values' approach to our customers and will always make every effort to resolve any issues, should they arise. Indeed, we value repeat business very highly and are delighted to say that many customers return because they have determined to buy only from us.

Throughout our trading years we have endeavoured to source vehicles of a more interesting nature and we have sold numerous Ferrari, Porsche and AMG Mercedes, BMW M3/M5, Lotus Elise, Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evolution. Our core business now concentrates on motorcycle sales and we have sold numerous bikes from Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, Harley Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, MV Agusta, Moto Guzzi, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha, to name but a few. Our key market is sports bikes, but we have a significant interest in stocking the ever more popular 'naked street bikes' as well as mainstream sports tourers and commuters, and the more niche market supermoto and enduros, as well as the odd classic. Against any of our sales bikes, we welcome cars or other bikes in part exchange against them. The Sargent family have been involved in the motor trade for a great many years now. The great grandfather of Damon Sargent, Henry James Sargent, began trading, in East Grinstead, in the early 1920's and built a successful business, Sargents of East Grinstead Ltd., which remained for 60 years until finally closed in the early 1980's. We are proud to follow in the family tradition.

Based in East Sussex between Battle and Rye, we are surprisingly accessible being just 5 minutes from the A21, and a little under 1 hour south of M25 Junction 5 for customers travelling from the motorway network.
