Description
The flute is in generally good condition with a couple of expertly repaired cracks, but crucially none going through the embouchure. It would suit someone used to playing such a flute as the tuning, although characteristic for a flute of this age, needs some lipping to produce acceptable intonation. The flute looks typical for a Metzler instrument, but there is no maker's mark.
I have attempted to repair one of the blocks for the C# key, and it works OK, but the new owner could probably make a better job and lubricate the keys. The crown is missing but the cork is in position and airtight
I have also replaced the D and E metal rings round the toneholes, some alteration to the E ring would help the typically flat F#.
Altogether it could be a a lovely flute with a bit of care and attention.
