Description
Description
A substantial live-edge oak timber slab with dramatic natural colouring, figuring and character. Its impressive width and large natural split make it particularly suitable for a statement dining table, boardroom table, bar top or river/epoxy resin furniture project.
This is Board #6 from the collection.
Approximate measurements:
Length: 3,030mm
Width at numbered end: 715mm
Width at centre: 790mm
Width at opposite end: approximately 900–1,020mm, depending on the measuring point across the irregular natural edge
Thickness: 55mm
All measurements are approximate and should be checked against the photographs.
Condition
Rough-sawn, unfinished oak slab with natural live edges. It has substantial character, including colour variation, dark figuring, saw marks, surface staining, natural cracks, checking and a pronounced split at the wider end.
Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description. The slab is being sold in its present rough condition and will require suitable flattening, machining, sanding, stabilising and finishing for its intended project. The prominent split could be stabilised or incorporated into a river/epoxy resin design.
Drying and storage
The slab has been air-dried for approximately five years at a sawmill, correctly stacked on timber bearers. It is now kept in a dry, ventilated container and remains stored on bearers.
It has not been sold as kiln-dried, and its current moisture content has not been independently tested. Buyers should check its suitability for their intended environment and allow for any further conditioning required before use.
Collection only from Earls Colne, Essex.
This is a very large and heavy solid-timber slab. It is currently stacked with other slabs in dry storage, so the buyer must bring sufficient assistance and a suitable vehicle for loading.
Depending on its position within the stack, other slabs may need to be carefully moved to gain access. These must be restacked neatly on the bearers afterwards.
The eBay collection code must be provided before the slab can be taken away. Please ensure that whoever collects it has the code available to avoid delays.
