Description

A long character hardwood timber slab with a dramatic tapered live-edge shape, attractive grain and plenty of natural features. It widens considerably towards the numbered end and could be suitable for a dining table, console, bar top, counter, bench or river/epoxy resin furniture project.

This is Board #2 from the collection.

The exact timber species was not confirmed in the original auction description, so it is being listed accurately as an unconfirmed hardwood rather than guaranteed as oak.

Width at opposite end: approximately 430mm

A reliable centre-width measurement was not obtainable while the slab was stacked. The width varies substantially along its natural irregular edges, so please use the photographs alongside the stated measurements.

Condition

Rough-sawn and unfinished, with natural live edges, retained bark and an unusual tapered shape. One face displays relatively clean, attractive grain, while the reverse has considerably more weathering, staining and natural character.

There are knots, surface marks, saw marks, blue auction-yard numbering, bark loss, natural cracks and end checking. These features have intentionally been left visible in the photographs.

Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description. The slab is being sold in its present rough condition and will require suitable flattening, machining, sanding, stabilising and finishing for its intended project.

Drying and storage

The slab has been air-dried for approximately five years at a sawmill, correctly stacked on timber bearers. It is now kept in a dry, ventilated container and remains stored on bearers.

It has not been sold as kiln-dried, and its current moisture content has not been independently tested. Buyers should check its suitability for their intended environment and allow for any further conditioning required before use.

This is a very long and heavy solid-timber slab. It is currently stacked with other slabs in dry storage, so the buyer must bring sufficient assistance and a suitable vehicle for loading.

Depending on its position within the stack, other slabs may need to be carefully moved to gain access. These must be restacked neatly on the bearers afterwards.

The eBay collection code must be provided before the slab can be taken away. Please ensure that whoever collects it has the code available to avoid delays.
