Description
Domestic Abuse & Safe Accommodation Practitioner
Leicester City Centre
Full and Part time roles available
Temp – Perm positions
Are you an experienced Support Worker, Housing Officer, Domestic Abuse Practitioner or Refuge Worker looking for a role where you can make a real difference?
We are working with a well-established charity in Leicester to recruit a Domestic Abuse & Safe Accommodation Practitioner to support women, and children living in safe, dispersed accommodation.
This is a hands-on role where you'll provide practical and emotional support, help clients manage their accommodation and work with them to move on to suitable longer-term housing.
The Role
You'll be responsible for supporting clients throughout their time in safe accommodation, making regular visits and helping them with both their immediate and longer-term needs.
You'll work closely with clients, colleagues and external agencies, so being able to build good relationships and communicate confidently with a range of people is really important.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing practical, emotional and personal support to clients affected by domestic abuse.
Carrying out regular visits to dispersed accommodation and providing one-to-one support.
Completing support plans, risk assessments and safety planning, and reviewing these regularly.
Supporting clients with housing, benefits, health, education and other welfare needs.
Helping clients access appropriate services and working with other agencies involved in their support.
Representing clients at meetings with external agencies where appropriate.
Supporting clients with their move-on plans and helping them secure suitable future accommodation.
Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving adults and children.
Making sure accommodation is safe, well maintained and any repairs or issues are followed up.
Keeping accurate and confidential records and case notes.
Working closely with colleagues, volunteers and partner agencies to provide a consistent service.
Maintaining the confidentiality of refuge and dispersed accommodation addresses.
Contributing to activities and support programmes for clients and their children.
About You
We're looking for someone who has experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children, ideally within a domestic abuse, refuge, supported housing, homelessness, family support or safeguarding setting.
You don't necessarily need to have worked in a refuge before, but you will need to be comfortable supporting people who may have experienced domestic abuse, trauma and difficult or complex circumstances.
You'll ideally have experience of:
Supporting vulnerable adults and/or children.
Safeguarding and assessing risk.
Housing or tenancy support.
Working with external agencies and other professionals.
Providing one-to-one support and helping people work towards greater independence.
Keeping accurate and confidential case records.
We're looking for someone who is calm, approachable, resilient and non-judgemental, with the ability to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries. xjnqpsq
The role also involves regular travel between accommodation locations, so you'll need to be comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider team.
