Description

A superb example throughout that ticks all the boxes. Lovingly restored to a very high standard by a serious VW enthusiast with no expense spared. Great provenance especially in that both the original VIN and M Code plates are intact in their original locations.

Originally supplied to Oklahoma, USA in 1965 and more recently imported into the UK providing a solid shell, dry state import. This formed the perfect basis for a light restoration with minimal metal work required, a vast difference to that of UK Buses. The bus has been stripped back to a bare shell with a photographic record to show what metalwork was completed. It was then repainted in early and desirable original VW colours, Titian Red / Beige Grey.

The bus benefits from serious mechanical upgrades that not only cost thousands, they take time and experience to setup correctly. Front disc brake conversion, brake servo upgrade and dual circuit master cylinder makes for an enormous difference in braking performance. If you compared this to a stock bus, you would not believe the difference!

1600cc Twin Port reconditioned engine running upgraded ancillaries including a top end Vintage Speed stainless steel exhaust system. Original oil bath air filter system installed which are imperative for optimum running and are often lost / replaced with inferior items. Engine bay automatic fire suppression system installed for peace of mind.

Dropped spindles and adjustable front beam for improved ride quality. The bus is running Porsche style Fuch 15 inch alloy wheels which look fantastic complimenting the rest of the opulent exterior extras / styling. Uprated CSP Quick shift gear linkage vastly improves gear selection.

Tens of thousands spent on the highest available quality parts for the bus including but not limited to Creative Engineering polished side pop out windows, front Safari windows, polished stainless nose badge. It even has a rear safari opening window to match. MCJ wood rim steering wheel, new door handles and control knobs. These are expensive and high end. VW Deluxe belt line trim and bumper trims. 4 bow stainless roof rack. Front and rear inertia seatbelts.

Fully upholstered by renowned VW trimmers, Madmatz, who we have known and dealt with for many years. Their upholstery is certainly some of the very best in the business and this includes new seat coverings, door cards, rear cushions, curtains etc.

Retrosounds Radio sits in the original radio hole providing a period appearance to the radio whilst offering modern features such as phone connectivity.

High end interior with oak veneer finish and bespoke curved cabinetry throughout featuring the recessed lower plinth to give a modern floating feel inside whilst retaining a period feel at the same time. Opposite facing seating layout, rear overhead cabinet storing detachable table. The rear seat is a fold down rock n roll bed and is the only version of this product we would ever recommend installing. It works effortlessly to pull down and create a large 6 ft double bed inviting a comfortable nights sleep! There is a Propex gas heater installed inside for additional warmth. There is a thick folder full of receipts for monies spent along the restoration journey, so you do not have to!
