Description
The Snake Oil Band are looking for a female vocalist to complete our five-piece line-up.
We’re an established, friendly band playing mainly up-tempo blues and blues-rock covers, with influences including Joe Bonamassa, Beth Hart, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, The Blues Brothers and John Mayall. We also venture into the likes of ZZ Top, The Rolling Stones, Santana and Gary Moore, and we’re always open to bringing new material into the set.
We’ve been gigging for many years and have played venues and festivals including London’s 100 Club, the main stage at Blackpool Winter Gardens, The Great British Rock & Blues Festival at Skegness, Dereham Blues Festival and The Water Rats.
Our line-up is drums, bass, lead guitar and male and female vocals, with our male singer also playing blues harp.
The vocals are shared, so we’re looking for someone comfortable taking the lead on plenty of songs as well as singing alongside our male vocalist. Being able to harmonise confidently is important, as a number of our songs feature duets and shared vocals.
We’re open to singers from North London, Hertfordshire or Essex, ideally with their own transport.
We’re a mix of ages ourselves, so age isn’t important. What matters is having a strong, confident voice, enjoying performing and genuinely loving the blues. We’d also be very happy for the right person to suggest new material that suits their voice and the band.
This isn’t a professional opportunity, although we do play paid gigs. We’re looking for someone who wants to rehearse regularly, contribute to the band and get out there playing gigs.
We take the music seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.
If that sounds like your sort of band, drop us a message and tell us a bit about yourself and what you’ve been singing. Ideally, please send over a video or recording of you singing too, if you have one.
