55350 miles. Here we have a very presentable looking Vauxhall Astra GTE Convertible finished in bright white with the correct cloth / velour interior. This is a special car, as they were designed by Bertone - the famed design house responsible for some of the worldâ??s most beautiful cars - and is believed to be one of only 167 cars left in the UK, of which only 21 are allegedly left on the road. This GTE was supplied new to its first owner, a Mrs Elliott of Farnham on 14/9/1988 by Clover Leaf Cars Ltd in Surrey. She kept the car for 22 years until it came into the hands of its second owner who has owned it for 14 years, which means that it has only had 2 owners in its entire life. A great history, which makes the mileage shown of 55,000 miles believable and credible. The condition is very smart and tidy and is believed to have benefited from an older restoration a few years ago to complete factory standard specification. It comes with quite an extensive service history including its original service book containing 17 stamps and a large selection of older MOTs, which sit very nicely with the fresh MOT. Back in the day, these cars were somewhat rarer than the XR3s and Golf GTIs, making them ever rarer to find today. This bodes well for todayâ??s market, especially this example in its current condition and the fact that it has not fell in the hands of somebody who has set out to modify the car in any way. This is a very good thing and only adds considerable value. With its 1998cc 8-valve engine producing around 115 bhp mated to its 5-speed manual gearbox, these were no slouch either and were more than happy keeping up with all the hot hatch performance cars of the day. They also cut a dash with their digital dashboard, which was a big thing back in the day. This is a car well worth coming to see, to take a look at how nice and original it is and how well its older restoration is still standing up. As previously said, there are not many of these left and especially one like this. Now maybe the time to acquire one before itâ??s too late, donâ??t say we didnâ??t tell you.
