Vintage Provencal Moustiers faience glazed earthenware compotier pedestal dish

Description

Up for sale is 1x decorative pedestal dish or compotier made in the French Moustiers Vieux Provence glazed faience pottery style.

Location is N4, Hackney, north London.

The dish measures as follows:

Length: 29cm / 11.5”
Width: 21.5cm / 8.5”
Height: 14.5cm / 5.75”
Weight: 906g / 32 oz16.3oz

The dish has scalloped edges and is decorated with stylised painted images of butterflies and flowers in blue, green and yellow. The image in the centre of the dish is a bird of paradise. The dish is edged in green.

The pedestal dish belonged to my late parents. I don’t know how old it is but it’s in very good condition.

The signs of wear are one single very small chip on its edge plus some faint crazing nearby. The patina is also discoloured with age.
