Description
1976 Triumph T140V Bonneville – A Genuine British Classic
Few motorcycles capture the spirit of British motorcycling quite like the Triumph Bonneville, and this 1976 T140V is a wonderfully honest example of an enduring icon.
Originally UK registered in March 1976, this matching numbers Bonneville has had just seven previous owners and remains largely untouched. While it couldn’t be described as concours, that is very much part of its appeal — this is a bike that wears its years with pride and character.
The machine runs superbly, with no untoward noises or smoke, and has the sort of mechanical feel that only a proper air cooled, Meriden built Triumph can deliver. The recorded mileage shows 18,246 miles; while we cannot guarantee this to be correct, the condition of items such as the brake discs which still have most of the original chrome coating would suggest the reading is not unrealistic.
The original factory paint, now gently faded, remains in place and looks superb in the metal, giving the bike a lovely, authentic patina that simply can’t be replicated. The entire motorcycle oozes charm and period presence.
The headers have been Cerakote coated, so they will not blue with heat, and more recently the last owner — a good customer of ours — fitted a set of American bars along with new silencers, subtly improving comfort and usability while respecting the bike’s classic lines.
Importantly, the bike is accompanied by a reassuring raft of paperwork which adds greatly to its appeal. This includes numerous service and parts receipts, a selection of previous MOT certificates, and—most notably—what appears to be the original Triumph Owner’s Handbook. The rear page of the handbook contains a handwritten record of owners and servicing, beginning on 6th March 1976 and running right through to 10th June 1994, at which point the notes record a full service together with the fitment of a new chain at 14,545 miles. It’s a wonderful, period piece of documentation that speaks volumes about the care this Bonneville has enjoyed over the years.
If you are searching for a Bonneville to fully restore, this probably isn’t the bike for you. However, if you want a proper British classic to ride, enjoy and cherish, perhaps with some light cosmetic fettling over time, this T140V will be immensely rewarding.
Viewings are very welcome.

About Us:
Conquest Motorcycles has been successfully trading in excess of 30 years. At the start Howard (the founder) specialized in classic British & Italian machinery and quickly established the company as one of the countries leading dealers. Lee having had an extensive career in the motorcycle industry joined the business some years later, where we expanded into the mainstream. Today we still strive to stock a good selection of unusual & exotic bikes along side the very latest in modern machinery, all of which is looked after by our wonder technician Stuey who has been with us since leaving school. At 30 years of age he's still the 'Nipper' but a real asset on the spanners. All in all we're two old blokes with a passion for bikes and a desire to provide a friendly, professional & honest service to our customers and a youngster who keeps us all in line :-)
