I received this for review, but I already have a very similar ball head. It's a head which they claim is suitable for ~8kg loads. It is currently for sale under the Neewer brand.
I tried it indoors briefly with a Nikon DSLR and an 18-200 lens. It was absolutely fine with that. It's probably not what you want for big telephoto lenses, however.
It's metal construction and holds very well. It actually has two locking knobs. The larger one is quick-acting and is usually all you need. But if you have a heavier load or are using the camera at a more unusual angle which needs more locking force, there's the second knob.
As I say, very similar to one I already have. I like that one because I use it with a carbon tripod, and it's all very easy to carry on a pack.
