I had requested a quote for regular garden maintenance visits, for my mum. This gardener visited my mum to see the garden and quoted me to do a big tidy-up, including a hedge and trees, then gave me a price for maintenance visits when I reminded him. I accepted the quote and he did the big tidy-up. Initially mum & I were very pleased with the work, but mum later found that he hadn't cleared up everything. We arranged a date for the first of the regular maintenance visits, but he never showed up, and I've had no contact from him since, despite asking again when he could visit. Now I feel I've been conned: I don't think he was ever interested in the maintenance work, just the initial big job. Hence the one star review.

Despite my asking for a day rate, Fred quoted for the job as a total, which was supposed to take more than 1 day, then surprised me by saying he wanted around 80% of the payment on the first day for "work completed". I explained I was expecting to make the payment in full when the job was completed, but agreed to pay 50%. When I returned home, I found that much less than 50% of the work had been completed. He took the garden rubbish but left drink cans, bottles and crisp packets all over the garden. He and his secretary then ignored my texts and phone calls asking when he would be coming back to complete the work. Really unprofessional, and very bad experience, I would not recommend.
