What I love most about my job as a tree surgeon isn’t just the trees—it’s the people. Every day brings someone new, a different story, a different perspective. One moment I’m in a quiet garden chatting with a retired couple who’ve lived there for decades, the next I’m meeting a young family just starting out, watching their kids play under the branches I’m there to care for.

There’s something special about being invited into these spaces. Trees often hold meaning for people—planted for a birth, grown alongside a home, or simply stood quietly through the years. Being trusted to look after them means I get to hear those stories, share a bit of my own, and connect, even briefly, with lives I might never have crossed paths with otherwise.

No two days feel the same. The work keeps me moving, but it’s the conversations, the small moments of connection, and the variety of people that really make it worthwhile. It reminds me that while I work with trees, I’m just as much in the business of people.
