Description
I'm heading to Spain to work as an English teacher, driving across England and France to get there. Would welcome someone riding shotgun!
Plan A is to leave Manchester on ~10 Jan, going via Dover and avoiding the French motorway tolls, so mostly on back roads. Not in a great hurry, want to see some sights and do a few short hikes along the way to stay healthy. But expecting the weather to be awful so a week in France is probably long enough.
Male or female OK. I'm an unconventional healthy middle age male. I can't stand cigarette smoke, rap, or hiphop but other than that I'm pretty chill about most things. I don't judge others for their choices, religion, sexuality, etc. although it's nice if you have other things to talk about. I'm interested in most things except football 😂😂😂
It's good if you can help with figuring out routes, accommodations and stopoffs as we go. A contribution towards fuel costs is always nice, but at a minimum you'll need to be able to pay your own costs along the way.
My van isn't really fitted as a camper yet, so we're probably looking at hostels or cheap airbnb plus buying meals. Too cold for camping!
(Plan B is to leave Mamchester on 8th, catch a ferry from Holyhead to take care of some business in Dublin that evening, then the ferry from Rosslare to Bilbao late on the 9th. That's nominally more expensive but avoids days of meals and accommodations in France. Not to mention all that driving in the rain! I tried to take this route a couple of years ago and the sailing was cancelled because of bad weather so I ended up driving anyway. Not betting on this option now.)
I'm in Kenya right now, back to UK early January and looking to get on the road as soon as I've taken care of my biz in Dublin.
