Senior Environmental Protection Officer
Kent | Hybrid Working | per hour Initial 6-Month Contract | High Chance of Extension
We are currently supporting a Local Authority in Kent with the appointment of an experienced Senior Environmental Protection Officer on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension.
This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional looking to take ownership of a varied caseload while benefiting from a flexible working arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to attend the office/site one Thursday every two weeks, with the remainder of the work completed remotely.
Key Responsibilities
* Air Quality assessments and monitoring
* Reviewing and responding to Planning Applications
* Licensing consultations and compliance matters
* Contaminated Land investigations and assessments
* Environmental Permitting and regulatory functions
* Providing specialist environmental advice to internal and external stakeholders
* Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation and local authority policies
Essential Requirements
* Degree qualification in Environmental Health or a relevant Scientific Discipline
* Previous experience working within a Local Authority Environmental Protection team
* Strong knowledge across Environmental Protection functions including:
* Air Quality
* Planning Consultations
* Licensing
* Contaminated Land
* Environmental Permitting
* Ability to manage a diverse workload independently
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
