Description

Are you an experienced transport or highways professional looking to lead on the delivery of real, on-the-ground infrastructure projects? East Sussex County Council is seeking a Principal Officer to play a key role in shaping and delivering highway schemes that support new developments across the county.

What you’ll be doing:

Leading the design and delivery of developer-led highway schemes through S38, S171 and S278 agreements

Approving highway designs and overseeing construction to ensure quality, safety and minimal disruption

Managing complex projects, budgets and small-to-medium contracts from start to finish

Working closely with developers, contractors, planners, emergency services and local councils

Acting as a technical expert and mentor to colleagues, supporting team development

Contributing to policy development, governance, reporting and service improvementWhat we’re looking for:

Background in transport planning, planning, civil engineering or a related discipline

Strong project and stakeholder management experience

Sound knowledge of highways processes, legislation and xjnqpsq development-led schemes

Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Confident communicator with the ability to lead, advise and influence
