Mayor's Office Manager

Location: Croydon, London

Salary: £32.27 per hour PAYE / £43.03 per hour Umbrella

Contract: Temporary Contract, initially for 3 - 6 months with view for further extension We are seeking an exceptional Mayor's Office Manager to lead the Mayor's Office and provide strategic and operational support to the Executive Mayor and Cabinet during a pivotal period for the borough.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the centre of local government, influencing decision-making, coordinating key priorities and ensuring the successful delivery of the Mayor's vision.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Executive Mayor, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Mayor's Office and act as a key link between the Mayor, Cabinet Members, senior officers and Council services.

Operating within a fast-paced and politically sensitive environment, you will ensure that strategic priorities are effectively coordinated, managed and delivered across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and managing the Mayor's Office team

Providing high-quality strategic and operational support to the Executive Mayor and Cabinet

Coordinating political priorities and ensuring delivery against key commitments

Overseeing executive support, diary management and briefing arrangements

Managing casework and community engagement activities

Supporting Cabinet processes and governance arrangements

Building strong relationships across the Council and with external stakeholders

Working closely with the Mayor's Policy Adviser, Corporate Management Team and partner organisations to drive progress and outcomesAbout You

We are looking for a highly organised, politically astute and resilient professional who thrives in a complex and high-profile environment.

You will be a natural relationship-builder with strong judgement, excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate competing priorities while maintaining focus on key objectives.

You will bring:

Experience working within a political office or supporting senior elected members, executive leaders or high-profile stakeholders

Strong understanding of the local government and political landscape

Excellent organisational, coordination and project management skills

Experience leading teams and driving high performance

The ability to manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgement under pressure

Outstanding communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills

A proactive approach to identifying issues, removing barriers and delivering outcomes
