Location: Gloucestershire, UK

Salary: 60,000– 70,000 per annum, depending on experience

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Aircraft Engineer to join an established aircraft maintenance team based in Gloucestershire.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a fleet of Diamond DA42 aircraft, ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in full compliance with applicable UK CAA regulatory requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing maintenance department, taking responsibility for aircraft airworthiness while supporting the operational flying programme.

The role would suit a proactive, adaptable engineer who takes pride in delivering high standards of workmanship, technical accuracy and safety.

Occasional travel to the organisation's Bournemouth base, or other locations where aircraft may be positioned, will be required. A fleet vehicle will be available for business travel.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out scheduled maintenance on fleet aircraft in accordance with approved maintenance programmes and technical data.

Diagnose and rectify defects, provide troubleshooting support and respond to Aircraft on Ground (AOG) requirements as necessary.

Oversee and certify maintenance activities undertaken by Fleet Support Technicians, within the scope of your authorisations.

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with UK CAA regulatory requirements, approved procedures and applicable Health & Safety standards.

Support the operational flying programme by coordinating maintenance activities and minimising aircraft downtime.

Maintain compliance with the organisation's approved Exposition and associated regulatory procedures.

Apply sound airworthiness principles and human factors awareness to all maintenance activities.

Complete accurate and comprehensive maintenance records and certification documentation.

Maintain a clean, safe and well–organised hangar and working environment.

Assist with aircraft handling, positioning, refuelling, valeting and detailing when required.

Applicants must meet one of the following licence requirements:

Hold a valid UK CAA Part–66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence, Category B1.2, with a full Group 3 rating and no limitation excluding composite–structure aeroplanes; or

Hold a UK CAA Part–66 Category B3 licence covering piston–engine, non–pressurised aeroplanes of 2,000 kg MTOM and below, with no limitation excluding composite–structure aeroplanes; or

Be within six months of meeting the applicable knowledge and practical experience requirements for one of the above licence categories.

Candidates should also demonstrate:

Practical maintenance experience on the Diamond DA42 or comparable twin–engine, piston–powered composite aircraft.

Completion of DA42 aircraft, engine and systems training, or equivalent documented knowledge and experience. Candidates without specific DA42 training must be willing to undertake the necessary familiarisation, differences or competency training.

Competence in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, component replacement and operational testing.

Extensive experience interpreting approved maintenance data, including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPCs), Wiring Diagram Manuals (WDMs), Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), maintenance programmes, work instructions and component maintenance documentation.

A sound understanding of Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), mandatory requirements and continuing airworthiness information.

The ability to adapt to changing operational priorities, aircraft availability and maintenance requirements.

Strong technical judgement, with the confidence to escalate defects, maintenance findings or technical concerns when appropriate.
