Vacancy Type: Permanent

About The Role

Are you ready to make a real difference in people’s lives?

We’re recruiting a full-time (35 hours/week) Recovery Support Worker based at HMP Onley. You’ll work within an integrated healthcare framework to support adults (18+) with drug and alcohol dependence, delivering psychosocial interventions using harm reduction and abstinence-based approaches tailored to each individual.

Please note: HMP Onley is a rural location with limited public transport options, so reliable travel arrangements are essential.

What you’ll be doing:

* Managing a caseload and coordinating recovery journeys

* Delivering structured 1-to-1 sessions and group programmes

* Completing assessments, risk assessments, and care plans

* Providing harm reduction advice and guidance

* Supporting release planning and through-the-gate continuity of care

* Collaborating with partners such as Healthcare, Probation, Housing, and Employment services

* Contributing to service performance targets and measuring outcomes

Who we’re looking for:

* Organised, confident, and able to manage a varied caseload

* A proactive team player who builds strong working relationships

* Flexible, with occasional evening/weekend shifts and travel across local projects if required

* Skilled in IT and maintaining accurate records

* Committed to safeguarding, quality, and professional standards

This is a rewarding role where your work makes a tangible impact, helping people rebuild their lives, reduce reoffending, and achieve lasting recovery.

All prison-based roles are subject to enhanced DBS checks and HMPPS security vetting. These checks can take up to 5 months to complete. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of both checks.

Please note if you have lived overseas within the last 5 years then checks may take longer.
