Role: Detention Officer

Location: Yarl's Wood, Bedfordshire

Pay Rate: PAYE rate £184.19 per day

Contract Length: 6 months initially

Working Hours: Shifts between Monday to Friday (8 AM - 9 PM) and weekends (1 in 3 weekends, 9 AM - 5 PM)

As a Detention Officer at Yarl's Wood, you will be working in a high-security detention centre, assisting detainees through the immigration process, conducting interviews, and overseeing welfare and security. The role also includes administrative duties and close interaction with caseworkers and other support teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct initial induction and follow-up engagements with detainees.

Ensure that Modern Slavery Assessments and Asylum Screening Interviews are conducted.

Oversee detainee welfare, identifying any signs of vulnerability.

Provide regular updates to caseworkers and assist with managing detainee cases.

Assist with administrative duties such as monitoring communications, managing lists, and preparing reports.

Escalate issues to the line manager and contribute to team efforts.About You:

Good communication skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.

Ability to work within a secure and regulated environment.

Previous experience in custodial, social work, or support roles.

Ability to pass security vetting (including police checks).
