Description

Labourer - Specialist Construction & Repair: Based on New Malden - potential projects across the UK (typically about 1-4 hours drive from New Malden).

About Us

We are a specialist construction and repair company providing high-quality services across the UK. Our clients often include individuals who are highly sensitive to damp, mould and chemicals, so precision, cleanliness and careful environmental control are essential to the way we work.

Our reputation is built on high-quality workmanship, meticulous attention to detail and exceptional customer service. We operate in a specialist niche that requires professionalism, respect for health and safety procedures, and a shared commitment to our company standards.

Projects frequently involve working within controlled containment areas designed to prevent the spread of dust and mould spores. Team members must be prepared to wear protective suits and masks, follow strict entry and exit procedures, and work safely in conditions that can become warm. Full compliance with these measures is essential.

Role

Overview We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Labourer to support our skilled multi-trade team on site. The role includes general labouring, assisting tradespeople, keeping work areas clean and organised, handling materials and following instructions carefully.

No formal trade qualification is required. Basic construction experience and practical ability are an advantage, but attitude, reliability, attention to detail, willingness to learn and the ability to follow health and safety procedures are particularly important.

Candidates who can also carry out basic multi-trade tasks will be particularly useful to the team. Examples include carefully cutting out plasterboard, measuring and fitting replacement plasterboard, cutting timber battens to size, and completing similar straightforward repair or preparation tasks under instruction.

Key Responsibilities

Assist multi-trade builders with day-to-day site tasks and preparation work.
Help set up, maintain and dismantle containment areas; full training will be provided.
Carry materials, load and unload tools and equipment, and keep work areas clean, tidy and organised.
Follow instructions accurately and complete allocated tasks efficiently and carefully.
Wear required PPE, including masks and protective suits, and work safely in warm or enclosed containment areas when necessary.
Comply with strict health, safety, cleanliness and hygiene protocols at all times.
Travel occasionally to project sites across the UK, typically around 1-4 hours from New Malden.
Stay away overnight when required; accommodation is provided for travel jobs.
Where capable, assist with basic multi-trade tasks such as removing and replacing plasterboard, measuring and cutting plasterboard, cutting timber battens to size, and other straightforward building or repair tasks.

Requirements

Reliable, punctual, hardworking and able to maintain a professional attitude on clients' properties.
Able to follow directions carefully and work effectively as part of a team.
Comfortable wearing protective clothing and masks and working in confined, enclosed or warm areas when required.
Willing and able to travel to projects and stay away from home when necessary.
Some construction, labouring or practical experience is helpful, but not essential.
Must be eligible to be paid under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
Being already registered with HMRC as a CIS subcontractor is strongly preferred and would be a significant advantage.

Desirable Practical Skills (examples include, but are not limited to)

Basic confidence using common hand tools and measuring accurately.
Ability to cut out damaged plasterboard neatly and prepare an area for repair.
Ability to measure, cut and fit replacement plasterboard.
Ability to measure and cut timber battens to size.
General practical or multi-trade ability and a willingness to develop further skills.

What We Offer

Competitive CIS pay, depending on experience and practical ability.
Accommodation provided for qualifying overnight stays.
Training and development in containment procedures and specialist construction and repair work.
Opportunity to develop practical skills and progress into more skilled roles over time.
A supportive, respectful and professional team environment.

How to Apply

Please send your CV to info@mouldfreehealth.co.uk, together with a brief note explaining your construction or practical experience, if any, and why you would be a good fit for the role. If you are already registered with HMRC as a CIS subcontractor, please mention this in your application.
