Windows and Doors Fitter

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Windows and Doors Fitter to join our team in London. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the professional installation, replacement, and repair of various types of windows and doors, ensuring high-quality workmanship, compliance with building regulations, and excellent customer satisfaction. This role requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team on residential and commercial projects across the Greater London area.

Key Responsibilities

* Installation: Accurately measure, fit, and install a range of windows and doors (e.g., UPVC, aluminium, composite) including bi-fold, sliding patio, sash, and casement styles, following manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.

* Preparation: Remove existing windows and doors carefully, preparing the apertures for new installations, and ensuring minimal damage to the surrounding structure.

* Glazing & Sealing: Install glazing units, beads, and gaskets, and apply necessary sealants and trims to ensure installations are weatherproof, airtight, and aesthetically pleasing.

* Repairs & Maintenance: Carry out repairs, maintenance, and adjustments to existing windows and doors, including replacing locks, hinges, handles, and glass units.

* Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work adheres to current UK Building Regulations (including Part L for energy efficiency and Part F for ventilation) and all relevant health and safety standards.

* Customer Service: Maintain a professional and courteous manner when interacting with clients, addressing any concerns promptly and ensuring the work area is clean and tidy upon completion.

* Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork, including job sheets, quality checks, and customer sign-offs.

* Material Handling: Safely load, transport, and handle windows, doors, tools, and equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

* Experience: Proven experience (minimum 3 years is desirable) as a professional Windows and Doors Fitter, working with various materials and styles.

* Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of fitting techniques, sealing methods, and relevant FENSA/CERTASS requirements (or equivalent standards).

* Measurement Skills: Excellent measuring and calculation skills to ensure precise fitting.

* Tools: Proficient use of all standard fitting tools and equipment.

* Communication: Strong verbal communication skills for effective team and customer interaction.

* Driving: A valid UK driving license is essential (preferably clean) to travel between sites across London.

* Safety: Knowledge of site health and safety procedures.

Desirable Attributes

* Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ in Fenestration Installation/Surveying).

* Current CSCS Card.

* Experience in surveying for window/door replacement projects.
