Description

We are a London Bridge based company looking for an efficient self motivated Building Maintenance Technician.

Building Maintenance Technician Location: Southwark, London | Salary: £35,000–£40,000 DOE | Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm (occasional evening/weekend flexibility)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Technician to take responsibility for the day-to-day operational upkeep of our buildings and event spaces in London Bridge.

This is a varied, practical role covering routine maintenance, minor repairs, statutory compliance checks, contractor coordination and event setup support. Operating across both office buildings and live event spaces, the successful candidate will play a central part in ensuring our sites remain safe, compliant and well maintained at all times.

The role requires someone with strong hands-on skills, the ability to manage a varied workload independently, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

Key Responsibilities

Building Operations

• Open and close buildings and event spaces in line with daily schedules

• Conduct daily walkarounds and building condition checks

• Monitor and maintain the general safety, cleanliness and presentation of the site

• Report hazards, defects and maintenance requirements promptly and accurately

Compliance & Safety

• Complete routine statutory compliance checks including fire alarm tests, emergency lighting inspections and water flushing

• Maintain accurate logs and records of all compliance activity

• Support the organisation in meeting its health and safety obligations across all sites

Maintenance & Repairs

• Carry out a range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks including:

o Painting and decorative touch-ups

o Basic carpentry and furniture repairs

o Replacement of fixtures, fittings and signage

o Minor plumbing tasks and blockage clearance

• Identify maintenance issues proactively and escalate where specialist input is required

Events & Space Preparation

• Assist with room configurations, furniture movement and preparation of event spaces

• Liaise with the events team to ensure spaces are set up accurately and on time

• Return spaces to standard configuration following events

Contractor Management

• Manage contractor access and supervise on-site works

• Ensure contractors comply with site health and safety requirements

• Report on contractor progress and flag issues to relevant internal stakeholders

Person Specification

Essential:

• Demonstrable experience in a facilities, building maintenance or building operations role

• Competent across a range of practical maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry and general repairs

• Able to work independently, prioritise effectively and manage a varied workload

• Reliable, punctual and methodical in approach

• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Basic IT proficiency for task logging and reporting

Desirable:

• Experience in an events, hospitality or venue environment

• Knowledge of building systems and statutory compliance requirements

• Experience supervising contractors on site

• IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification

• PAT testing certification

• Full UK driving licence
