If you picture yourself behind the wheel of a Defender L663 crossing The Ridgeway with your wife in the passenger seat, or daydream about driving a Grenadier 3.0 diesel with your mistress down Breasthigh Road... well, this Toyota has nothing to do with either.

​Think of her more as the spirited auntie from the countryside—always full of life and constantly on the move.
​She’s a proper 4x4 just like her fancy cousins, but with a sensible 2.2 D-4D engine (150 bhp / 340 Nm). For a 2011 model, she’s like a charming older lady—she’s got a few battle scars on the outside, but she still runs like a spirited mare.

Naturally, as a vehicle that oozes luxury, pure opulence, and the unmistakable personality of its owner, she is black. With a matching black interior. In the summer, it gets quite warm inside unless you give it a fresh air-con regas. The system works and still blows cool air, but it wasn't quite icy enough for last summer's heat, it hasn't been topped up since I fitted a reconditioned eBay compressor 3 years ago (I wasn't mad enough to buy a new one from Toyota!).

​With 205,000 miles on the clock, she comfortably carries me to work Monday to Friday, racking up a strict 600 miles every single week without complaint.

​The Honest Bits:
Like any diesel of her vintage, she has her DPF moods. Dashboard Christmas lights like to come and go as they please (and have done for the last 3 years), but it has never stopped her from starting and getting the job done daily. Be prepared for a few cursed words from the neighbors, as she occasionally leaves a brief puff of smoke behind her for a couple of seconds.

​Rear shock absorbers replaced in spring
​Front & rear brakes fully refreshed (discs, pads, and calipers changed in spring)

​Why am I selling?
A 2.2 diesel, a solid 4x4 system, and diesel hovering around £2/L... doing 600 miles a week in this makes me look slightly mad. Time for her to find a new home where she isn't doing full motorway marathons every week.
