Toyota Land Cruiser 78 (J78) — 3.0 KZ Engine — Indestructible & Camping Ready

Selling my J78, genuine original body, now running a 3.0 KZ turbodiesel (swapped from the standard 2.4) with an automatic box. This engine has a reputation for being nearly bulletproof — smooth, torquey, and about as low-maintenance as diesels get. Barely any electronics on this car either, so if things ever go properly sideways, this is the one you want.

124,500 miles on the clock and it drives like new. Body is completely rust-free and looks genuinely excellent for its age — still in the original colour, no modifications, nothing weird done to it. There are a few small age-related marks on the paint here and there, and the AC could do with a regas, but that's about the extent of the flaws.

Bit of history: the car was owned by a Land Cruiser collector in Germany for a number of years, and it shows — properly looked after, no corners cut, maintained to that typical German standard of "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right." We bought it from him last year, then spent a few thousand at a Land Cruiser specialist over there getting everything properly sorted - recipe can be send on request.
The engine swap itself was done professionally back in 2019 using a low-mileage donor engine, before we owned it. We brought the car into the UK earlier this year.

Passed its UK MOT with 0 remarks and also has a valid German TÜV (happy to send on request).

Comes with a sunroof, and also a decent amount of camping gear — she has beenused for trips for years, so it's kitted out and ready to go.

Reason for selling: we're moving abroad next year, otherwise we'd be keeping it.

Would also consider swapping for a similar Van or Caddy, since we're heading back to Germany and won't need right-hand drive there.
