Hexham, Northumberland
£80
Description
The following spec and description is taken from Grok - please be aware the the tent has a groundsheet which is separate to the tent except for the internal bedrooms which have a full unit groundsheet. The tent is heavy and two people can manage to set it up but would be easier with 3. Our tent has only been used 5 times so is clean etc. but there is a slight rip on the flange on one side which is about 6" long and doesn't affect the integrity of the tent at all. It is a very big tent and the 2 x bedrooms are big enough for 2 people each and yes you could sleep 6 if two people sleep in the main living area.
Spec/description
The Outwell Indiana 6 is an older, discontinued tunnel tent model (from around the mid-2000s to early 2010s, e.g., 2006–2007 models commonly referenced), known for its durability, spacious design, and family-friendly features. It was praised for excellent wind resistance thanks to its steel poles and robust build, though it's heavy and no longer in production by Outwell.
Capacity: Up to 6 persons (6-berth). Often described as spacious for 4–5 people comfortably; can feel crowded at full 6.
Structure/Type: Tunnel tent (poled, fly-first pitching with ring-and-pin system). Steel poles (19/22 mm diameter, 2 main upright poles).
Weight: Approximately 33.5–39.9 kg (varies slightly by source; includes poles; heavy due to steel frame, often comes with a trolley/transport bag for easier handling).
Packed Size: Tent: ~78 × 35 × 37 cm; Poles: ~23 × 75 cm (packed in a stable transport trolley).
Waterproof Rating: Outer tent — Outtex® 5000 (5,000 mm hydrostatic head/water column), fully seam-sealed flysheet for good rain protection.
Materials:
Flysheet/Outer: Outtex® 5000 polyester with PU coating and sealed seams.
Inner tent: Nylon/breathable fabric.
Floor/Groundsheet: PE (polyethylene), fabric-reinforced; detachable "bathtub" style in living area (fully enclosed in bedrooms).
Dimensions: Exact pitched dimensions not consistently listed in sources (older model), but it's a large family tunnel tent with a big living area, front zip-off canopy/awning, and flexible bedroom setup. Height typically allows good headroom (similar Outwell family tents from era ~200 cm+ outer height).
Rooms/Layout: 3+3 universal inner tent configuration (pre-attached; removable double bedroom divider for flexibility — can be one large or separate sleeping areas). Large living area that can convert to ventilated room with mesh doors. Front zip-off canopy for extra covered space.
Key Features:
Large panorama windows for light and views.
Multiple ventilation points (including along groundsheet).
Organiser pockets and mesh pockets in inners.
Lamp holder.
Temperature gauge.
Reinforcement patches on stress points.
Adjustable pegging points.
Pre-attached guy ropes (luminous for visibility).
Heavy-duty Outwell zips.
Outwell doormat included.
Repair kit included.
Mosquito net/mesh door options for bug-free ventilation.
It was highly rated (e.g., 9/10 average from user reviews) for sturdiness in bad weather (withstands strong winds and rain well), ease of setup (though poles make it heavier), and thoughtful details. Common feedback: excellent in gales, good ventilation, but seal seams if needed for extreme conditions, and it's heavy to carry without the trolley.
